The Wide Bay Burnett region has a range of thriving industries, including tourism, agriculture, forestry, fishery, mining, and manufacturing. There is also a great deal of untapped potential. However, economic indicators of unemployment, participation and an ageing population show that the Wide Bay Burnett region also faces many challenges.
It is essential to identify the challenges, strengths and competitive advantages of the region and have a strategy for future growth.
WBBROC’s Regional Economic Development Strategy 2019-2024, will assist our Councils, other levels of Government, key regional stakeholders and the business community with decision-making relating to economic development initiatives.
In partnership with all stakeholders, this strategy will help WBBROC in “Unlocking our Regional Wealth”.
