Cabomba

Native to North and South America, cabomba is a fully submerged aquatic plant, originally introduced to Australia as an aquarium plant. It is an aggressive perennial that can form dense canopies below the water’s surface, displacing native plants and animals, affecting water quality and impeding recreational uses.

Within the Wide Bay Burnett small isolated infestations of cabomba have been recorded in the Fraser Coast Regional Council and South Burnett Regional Council, and are aimed for eradication under the Wide Bay Burnett Biosecurity Strategy 2017-2022.
