Regional Resilience Advisory Committee
WBBROC established the Regional Resilience Advisory Committee following the successful Burnett Catchment Flood Resilience Pilot which WBBROC supported in partnership with the Queensland Reconstruction Authority. The Strategy that was developed as an outcome of the Pilot project can be found at http://www.qldreconstruction.org.au/BCFRS
Andrew Bryant, WBBROC’s Regional Resilience Coordinator, has been engaged to support this Committee. Funding for his role has been supported via NDRP funding provided by the Queensland and Australian Governments.
The Committee and Regional Coordinator will be responsible for implementing the Strategy and supporting the community, business and farmers to develop better ways to prepare for floods, as well as recovering more readily from floods. Membership of the Committee will come from WBBROC Councils, Government agencies and community support organisations.
A similar pilot project has now been initiated to develop resilience strategies for the Mary River Catchment.
