Wide Bay Burnett Centre for Regional Innovation
Supporting the growth of innovative businesses and creating new jobs
The Centre for Regional Innovation is an initiative of WBBROC and was developed in response to major issues facing the Wide Bay Burnett region – most notably the high levels of unemployment, an ageing population and the need to generate more employment prospects, including more opportunities for young people. Small businesses are the backbone of the region’s economy and more of these businesses can succeed and grow through innovation and developing products and services for markets across Australia and overseas. A trial program was launched in mid 2013 and has gained strong traction and interest from businesses.
WBBROC is now calling on interested government/business partners to progressively step up the program to make an impact on a larger number of businesses in the region – around 100 businesses per year with a structured support program ranging from accessing resources and connections from an online platform to more intensive one-to-one coaching.
